Our Awards
David Bellamy gives 6 year’s continuous gold award to Brokerswood Country ParkSue Capon, Managing Director, of Brokerswood Country Park said “We’ve worked really hard for this and only 34 out 500 parks have got 6 year’s continuous gold, it’s a fantastic achievement for everyone involved.”
Why is Brokerswood Country Park so special? It’s the last remaining corner of the ancient forest of Selwood, it’s a treasure trove of woodland walks, it has an array of birds and wildlife, but most importantly it stays true to the ideals that David Bellamy believes in…
“These awards are signposts to parks which are making achievements in protecting our environment”
Privately owned and managed by a family with families in mind it has only had 5 owners since William the Conqueror.
Still a working woodland Brokerswood Country Park has been developed sympathetically to ensure the future of this delicate environment and is therefore now dependant on recreation and leisure rather than the woodland products such as hazel hurdles, thatching spars and firewood which were once its mainstay.
There is plenty to see and do with trails amongst the trees, a lake with wildfowl and beautiful picnic areas and barbeque areas. The Woodland Railway which operates at weekends from Easter through to October and school holidays snakes leisurely through the woodlands linking the two Adventure Playgrounds.
The Café offers an excellent range of refreshments from morning coffee, afternoon teas, light snacks, take away teas and coffees.
Campers and Caravanners are well catered for, offering hardstanding or grass pitches, electric hook-ups, centrally heated shower block and washing up area.
